Shayne Rochfort began serving as an Affiliate Missionary with One Mission Society in March 2011 after spending one year on the field in Thailand with The River Team. He is seconded to a Thai-Australian-Finnish community development and transformation team in Hangdong, just south of Chiang Mai. Shayne’s main roles include English Teaching in schools and the community, general administration and coordination, working with children and youth, training and empowering local team members as they serve Jesus in the community. Although he has no specific ministry responsibilities, Shayne can be involved in cleaning, pool maintenance, sweeping, edging, weed pulling, attending meetings, event management, computer work and administration, teaching English in schools, teaching English or computers to the team, writing curriculum, praying, hosting teams, driving, our Kids Club program and life guarding. He loves serving The River Team and the local Hangdong community. After spending many years working in the IT industry, Shayne was challenged by God as to why he wasn’t in full time service. He had been serving God in many ways in Australia, through local church and parachurch organisations, but the call to serving overseas became too big to ignore. Many years ago, Shayne visited India on a short term mission trip, since then God has been preparing him and prompting him in this endeavour. Shayne has spent many years in church ministry, interdenominational ministries as well as camping and sports ministry at all levels from coaching to administration and refereeing. Shayne has completed a Certificate in Youth Ministry through Scripture Union. Shayne has a passion for the people of Thailand, nearly 68 million lost people live there.
